As a recognized authority on the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle, Dr. Frank Sabatino has cared for and inspired thousands of people for over 40 years. Dr. Sabatino has a PhD in cell biology and neuroendocrinology and has done extensive landmark research on calorie restriction, stress, and aging. He currently is on staff at the TrueNorth Health Foundation in Santa Rosa, CA, and serves as the Director of Health Education at the NHA.

In the realm of fitness and wellness, there are individuals whose journeys transcend the ordinary, inspiring countless others along the way. One such luminary is Angela Fischetti, the dynamic founder of Boomer and Beyond Wellness.


Angela’s deep respect for the human body and her unwavering belief in the power of movement propelled her to defy ageist stereotypes, advocating that exercise is not bound by age but essential for vitality at every stage of life.


Beyond the realm of physical fitness, Angela’s journey towards holistic wellness was guided by her love for animals and ethical eating. Adopting a vegetarian lifestyle in 1987 and transitioning to a vegan diet in 1990, Angela’s commitment to whole plant foods became the cornerstone of her approach to health and wellness. 


Her journey towards plant-based living not only transformed her own life but also became an inspiration for those seeking to align their values with their lifestyle choices.

As we were walking and learning together yesterday during our Wisdom Walk, I managed to take a few notes and I would like to share a few of the ideas which impacted me in some way. I am paraphrasing what I heard during the interview - filtered by my own mitote of ideas and thoughts.





I took plenty of notes and really enjoyed the friendship between Angela and Dr Sabatino. Long-time friends, their conversation was engaging and enlightening.




  • Angela began her professional career in theatre and found the travels and pressure made finding time to workout difficult

  • Until! Jane Fonda came along and then Angela was on her way with her tape

  • In her youth she admired the health and energy and joy she witnessed in her Italian grandparents - "I want to be live like them!"

  • She developed a deep passion for fitness as a young child - and was a bit of "Tom Boy" - and keeping up with the boys, something she would continue to do throughout her life

  • She learned how to help the elderly by consulting with chiropractors and physical therapists - learning about the human body, its physiology and it needs

  • Her first concern was always to never hurt anyone - and in time any living thing

  • Her nutritional journey came later beginning with vegetarianism, moving to raw vegan and back again - the dance most of us to until we transition to WFPB

  • Angela experienced a traumatic time which led her to dairy once more and she knew she was not well

  • She had a consult with a psychologist who practiced tapping and found that her heart chakra was blocked

  • Angela returned to her theatre training through practicing vocalizations - she learned chanting techniques (in Sanskrit) and unblocked her chakra

  • She calls this vocalization "Songs of Joy and Devotion"

  • After water fasting with Dr Sabatino in 2019 he told her to reinvent herself; and she did just that, crediting her transformation to him (very sweet moment)

  • Boomer and Beyond Wellness was created with the intent to help the elderly understand that they can indeed still move - and she meets each client precisely where they are and creates individualized techniques and movements to empower them once more - "Don't quit. There is always a way that you can do this"

  • Angela integrates all styles and forms of exercise - focusing on compound movements and functional movements - things we need to do in life to be free of pain and be able to enjoy your life - every day of it

  • I love her energy and her passion and I especially love her 'guns'!

  • I am so surprised to learn that she is 66 years old! I love watching her, especially her idea we do not have to put up with it because we are old

  • I find her inspiring and full of incredible energy. I admire her integrity, she walks the talk

  • I love how she meets people where they are and her philosophy that anyone can move, when properly guided
